I grew up cheering for the Georgia Bulldogs, so when Laura approached me about doing her wedding just outside Athens, I was all in! This also made it the perfect weekend for my mom and sister to come along and help me.
I was filled with joy watching them walk down memory lane – both of them were sorority gals at UGA, and mom and dad fell in love on that campus : ) So, to say this was a special wedding is a tremendous understatement.
Laura had one strong request- sunflowers! Beyond that, she was open to my creative ideas, which is my absolute favorite way to collaborate. Thank you both for an unforgettable experience.

It’s the start of a new year and while I’m so unbelievably thrilled for what’s to come in 2013, I wanted to use this blog post to reflect on my first year of wedding delight:

Holly + Chase
Photography // Rylee Hitchner
For my first wedding, I had the pleasure of working with two dear friends and true lovebirds. I’ll never forget this night for the rest of my life. I’m so thankful for the abundance of tears and laughter I was able to share with friends and also, the incredible opportunity to work with Rylee Hitchner! Holly and Chase, I love you both : )

Traci + Judson

A winter wedding with bright colors! It made me so happy that Traci wanted a pop of yellow in December : )

My heart starts beating faster at the thought of Meagan and Tim. There aren’t enough words to express my love and adoration for them. Their wedding was so special for many reasons – one being the opportunity to work with the incredible Once Wed crew. Another being the chance to watch this lovely couple, whom I adore, vow to love each other through thick and thin. It was an absolute pleasure to coordinate the details for your special day! Oh, and did I mention that Meagan did all of the paper goods and calligraphy?! What a gal : )

Bonnie has such a creative spirit. She included a lot of DIY florals throughout her wedding day including paper flowers. However, she wanted fresh flowers for her bouquet!! It was such a special moment when I walked into her Brooklyn apartment with her bouquet in hand and met this beautiful bride for the first time on her wedding day!

Jessica and I met in our teens and what a blessing it was to be a part of her wedding day. I think my favorite part about the wedding was being surrounded by their friends and family all day and seeing not only how deep the couples love was for each other, but also for the precious ones in their lives.

It’s hard to believe that just a little over a year ago this adventure began… I’ll never forget driving to Huntsville, AL for Holly and Chase’s wedding in a freezing cold 4-runner filled with flowers and thinking to myself, “I despise cold temperatures, but I would still be delighted to do this every single weekend.”
I would like this first blog post to be about people who have helped me turn the pages in this new chapter of my life:
My family - you have been so unbelievably supportive and helpful from day one. I seriously could not have done most of these weddings without my precious mom and sister. Thank you for staying up late with me and for being totally okay with extreme layering in hotel rooms : ) Mom, you look fantastic in a hoodie. Paul, you always look at me with a big ole grin. Not sure if you think I’m crazy or you’re just proud of your little sis, and I’m honestly okay with a mixture of both. It’s so comforting to know that you’ll always be there for me, arms wide open. I adore you.
Moni - to you I say thank you, from the bottom of my heart. You’ve really given me confidence unlike anyone else. Your creative ability is astonishing, and I can’t wait to skip down this road with you. Just don’t trip you klutz.
Meagan - thank you for creating this perfect website. Thank you for continuing to work with me through the planning your own wedding, bringing adorable Oaks into this world and the craziness of life. I’m forever grateful for your sweet, sweet soul.
Phenomenal roommates and friends - Lindsay Rae Design is pretty much happening because of you. Thank you for spreading the word, allowing me to fill our NY apartment with flowers and patting me on the back no matter what the situation may be. Thank you for your constant love, outrageous laughter, undeserving grace and honesty.
To every bride and groom I’ve had the pleasure of working with thus far - you have blessed my life in the most beautiful way: by vowing to love each other as long as you are walking this earth. Thank you for allowing me to be a part of one of the most special days in your life. It fills me with an immeasurable amount of joy.
Life is a roller coaster ride, but I just can’t imagine it without those unexpected drops, unbelievable loops and heart wrenching turns. I’m a firm believer that everything happens for a reason. Sometimes it doesn’t make sense and we’re forced to search a little harder for those reasons, but it’s in those moments that we grow as individuals and as a community. The past year has been filled with an abundance of searching, and I’m so unbelievably thankful because I found some gems along the way. I can’t wait for the journey that lies ahead…
xoxo,
LR
